We have a deep respect for finely crafted, artisan products. Since 1995, we’ve created hand painted tile for clients who love to surround themselves with art. 

Metolius Ridge Artisan Tile is known for creating custom backsplashes, fireplace surrounds, and large wall and floor installations that serve as a focal point and bring warmth and style to a space.

All of our tile is made to order in our studio in Bend, Oregon. In decorating tile we have modified an age-old technique called 'Cuerda Seca' (Dry Line), in our unique way. Our glazes are mixed and each design is painted by hand. We cut custom sizes exactly to fit spaces---to enhance the quality of our installations.

Dedicated to environmental sustainability, we run our energy-saving, thick-walled kilns with green power, drive a biodiesel company car, and do our best to minimize waste wherever possible. The bisque (base tile) we use is made in the US and is made from 50% recycled material. Our glazes are also locally sourced. This tile, 100% made in the USA, is made with love.

 About the Founder

'I like things that are primitive and time-worn—but also fresh. I like using materials that feel like they’ve been there forever. I started out as a textile designer, and worked for a number of clothing and product design companies. I subsequently went on to work as a product designer overseas. It gave me a global design experience.

Making things by hand--with heart--is important to me.'
